Another Step Forward For HD Music Tracks

Filed under: Press and Publications — Amie C @ 10:12 am

HDTracks has added even more HD music tracks to their repertoire.Longtime Axiom fave site, HDTracks, has added even more hd music tracks to their repertoire.

HDTracks recently announced the addition of Warner Music Group to their list of labels and in doing so opened up a wide range of music to audiophiles, including:

Jackson Brown: Running on Empty

Miles Davis: Tutu

Carly Simon: No Secrets

The Eagles: Hotel California

and more.

HD music tracks have long been endorsed by Axiom.  In an interview with co-founder David Chesky at the launch of the website, his philosophy clearly echoed our own goals:

“Serious efforts have been made throughout history to deliver a pristine live-music experience, from the design of concert halls with perfect acoustics to the building of precious hand-made instruments, to the years of work put in by performers to perfect their craft. We offer the best alternative to those music enthusiasts who will not compromise and accept recorded music that is compressed, flat, lifeless, and represents a mere fraction of the original performance.”

One of the simplest demos we do at our house is to play a song with really great range (for example, kd lang’s version of Hallelujia from the 2010 Vancouver Olypmics – guaranteed to give you chills) – from our iTunes collection on our media server, and then directly from the CD.  The sound is really quite good from iTunes, but once you’ve heard the CD version you understand immediately what you’re missing.

If you’re looking to add to or upgrade your existing digital music collection, check out the new offerings from HDTracks!

Sounds like a great service but according to their Terms & Conditions they don’t sell to Canada. Are you aware of any Canadian sites that provide a similar service?

    11. Territory. The Digital Store is currently available only in the continental United States, and is not available in any other location. You agree not to use or attempt to use the Digital Store from outside of the available territory, and that HD may use technologies to verify your compliance.

    • Hi Murray,
Thanks for your comments. It’s true. HD Tracks is licensed only for the USA, which is a drag for Canadian enthusiasts. I’m not aware of any other service. It’s like Netflix; I’m a member in the US, but when I come to Canada, it won’t work. I have to subscribe to Netflix Canada. Forget it. I don’t know why these companies can’t negotiate licensing deals for the US and Canada simultaneously. — A.L.
