That's wild - is that the one with C3PO and R2D2 making noises during a song in the bar? The Empire Strikes Back was my first 'grown up' record, replacing (doesn't it all come back again) my Strawberry Shortcake album. {grin}

Little Richard. Saw him on ye olde kinescope. I was mesmerized. I demanded my mother get it for me. She wouldn't, so I asked her brother. Thank you, Uncle Mike!

My first album was on vinyl, in mono, "Bobby Darin: That's All," the first time I'd really heard hip vocals (hip for the 1950s) with great big-band arrangements. I recall driving down to a record shop in London, Ontario, and listening to the album in these little listening booths. Musically, that album still stands up.
My first single was "Heartbreak Hotel", by Elvis, on a 78 rpm. It was in the mid-1950s, during the transition from 78 rpm to 45 rpm for singles.

is this an age related question? my first album was bought in 1960 - it was the Ventures - Walk Don't Run - Bob Bogle's guitar soared on tunes like Sleep Walk, Raunchy - a motto to live by - Caravan , Night Train - a classic album - here we are several years later and i now have the Ventures 45th Anniversary on DVD - who would have thought you could have image and sound together!!!

First LP was probably Meddle (Pink Floyd), but that was after a bunch of 45's. I forget the sequence, but Witchy Woman and Monster Mash were probably near the top of the list. That was around the time I started building speakers.

My first album was a collection of John Phillip Sousa marches, and NO, it was NOT presented to me by the man himself. I must've been around 10 years of age at the time.
