Tis The Season . . . For Another Contest!

Filed under: Fun around the factory — Tags: , — Amie C @ 12:40 pm

We’ve all been there – maybe it’s your house, maybe it’s a neighbour’s – where this time of year there is an ornament on every surface and no window is left unadorned. You know, the type of decorating that makes the mall look under-done . . . And that’s all well and good in some rooms, but in your man-cave? It’s asking too much!

Send in a photo of the most worst affront that has happened to your speakers when your family was decorating for the holidays! Stockings muffling your tweeters? Snowmen wiping out woofers? Post’em here – you’ll win our sympathy, and if the situation is the worst we’ve ever seen, you’ll win a $50 prize, too! Details.

Please select your image(s) to upload.

Contest Details:  Submit a minimum of 1 picture with your name and email address.  If your picture is chosen as the winner, we’ll send you a gift certificate for $50 at AxiomAudio.  Winner will be chosen December 30th, 2012.  Prize is not redeemable for cash; only for loudspeakers or accessories at  We may choose to use any or all of the photos at our discretion.  Please do not enter if this contest violates any federal, provincial, state or laws.  Questions?  Email us!

    Running Geek = Speaker Defeat

This isn’t necessarily a Christmas holiday affront (though my front left and right speakers do usually get the snow man treatment) but rather a tale of a geek on moving day. Almost four years ago a geek moved into his first apartment, a place that didn’t allow for ceiling mounted QS8’s. So off to the Axiom Store he ran to procure the custom QS stands he desparately needed. Upon their arrival he placed one of his trusty surrounds atop the stand and continued unpacking and wiring. Later on as he rushed into the room to grab a screwdriver for his dad, he caught a foot on the freshly mounted QS8 in front of the couch, having not placed it properly as of yet.

Almost in slow motion it fell like a tree in the forest and with a resounding “THUD” it hit the wooden floor (atop concrete) and with that a grill cover snapped off, a tweeter broke free, and a woofer disappeared inside the speaker. “OH NO!!” He said, muttering a blue streak under his breath, “they’re out of warranty!”.

He took some snaps and made a call to Axiom; and what did the helpful folks on the other end reply? “No worries sir! We can walk you through fixing that and send you the free parts to do it!”, “Wow, amazing!” he exclaimed.

And even when the incorrect parts arrived (they changed grille cover styles from v2 to v3) Axiom quickly replaced the parts and assisted over the phone.

That was over three years ago and the left surround is still working perfectly; and its been tied to the leg of the entertainment stand with zip ties :).
