As mentioned Futureshop will have good sales certain times of the year.
You can usually pick up the entry level H/K 135/140 on sale for $399 I believe. Currently they have the 135 on for $499.
I used to run a H/K 110 with M60's and it was more than adequate. I did move up to Yamaha RX-V4600 though as East Hamilton Radio had a deal I couldn't pass up
Another popular receiver seems to be the Pioneer 1015 or new version 1016. I saw the 1015 usually drop down to $399 as well. Here's a link for the current price.
