Ok, so I want to get a TiVo series 3. I know they have an HDMI connection and would like to use it for HD viewing. However this is my setup:

JVC 32" LCD flat panel TV
Harmon Kardon AVR-525
Xbox 360 & Toshiba DVD Player & a Component Video Switch

What I was wanting to do is hook up the TiVo to the TV using HDMI for video and using the optical output on the TiVo to connect it to the 525 for the audio. So I was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible.

I tried to do it with my DVD player (it upconverts and has an HDMI), but I guess if the HDMI is connected then the optical audio out is disabled.

Ahh, here is a good place for me to rant about all the new components that are starting to use HDMI outputs and inputs and the lack of AV recievers that have HDMI inputs & outputs. Is there anyone else here who feels that at the moment all these HDMI connections are not being used to their fullest, or are like me and holding off from buying components with HDMI connections until a decent AV reciever with HDMI capability is placed on the market?
