Hello.

When I first put together an entry-level home theater, I received the Axiom AX500A as a gift for a sub. Though I have steadily upgraded my speakers, I have a question about how to get the most out of my subwoofer.

My system is a Technics 80W/channel receiver, JVC DVD player with built-in DTS+5.1 decoders, Axiom M3's as the mains, an entry-level JBL center channel, Cerwin-Vega LS5's for surrounds, and the AX500A as sub. The predominant use is for home theater.

I currently have the sub running at half-volume, 0 degrees in phase, with the crossover around 80-90, 9 inches from the wall (it can't face a corner due to room layout). The bass sounds great, but I know it's well below the potential of the sub, which I realize is a "man among boys" with my current setup.

Any advice on how I should set things up to get a better sound without risking damage?

Thanks,

Frank Warsh
