I've been building speakers (mostly subs) for over 10 years now... I'm about to embark on my latest adventure for my new HT. I wouldn't mind something from SVS but I don't have 500+ bucks right now so I'm going to take the drivers I currently have and build something cool.

For me half the benifit is the designing and building, makes hearing it even more benifical since I know I created it.

If its your first time I'd simply recommend just picking out some cheap woofers, nothing fancy. Just try to build something for ~50-100 bucks and see if you enjoy it and can get a sound out of it that you like. Then down the road for a serious sub you could buy quality drivers or just get something from a company like SVS etc.
