A very dedicated and talented fan created a computer animated video (wmv format, ~42mb) of Neil Peart playing the drums in the song YYZ. Very cool.

Wow.

How many years do you suppose THAT took?

I couldn't take my eyes off of it.

Thanks, Peter.

Really terrific computer animation. It makes me think of Animusic. For those who are unfamiliar with Animusic, it is a wonderfully creative DVD of computer generated music and images. Here are a couple of quick samples.

Pipe Dream

Acoustic Curve

I see that Animusic 2 is coming out this October. Here is a clip from that one.

Starship Groove

The music isn't particularly my cup of tea, but I have profound admiration for the creativity involved in this kind of stuff. Besides, it reminds me of my wild, misspent youth, when I use to smoke a lot of...........um.............well, you know. I'd a LOVED these DVDs in those days. OOOOOOOO! FAR OUT, MAN!

Great stuff, Jack!

Whaddya mean, "misspent"? Like it or not, those experiences and choices are part of what made us what we are today. And frankly, I like both of us just fine. You and me, I mean. I'm not channelling or bipolar or schizophrenic. At the moment. I don't think.

But yes, Far Out, indeed.

Tom, if your mellow, even-manneredness is a result of you having purged the opposite from your system during your youth, you must have been quite the wild and crazy guy.

"Rush in Rio" seemed to provoke mixed reactions from fans. Some (myself included) thought it was amazing. Other folks found it unwatchable because the crowd noise was so overwhelming. For those in the latter camp, I stumbled across this:

Rush will be releasing the highly anticipated R30 DVD in late fall 2005. R30 will feature the sold out concert that Rush played in Frankfurt, Germany on September, 24 2004, during their 30th Anniversary tour.

Neil Peart is currently working on the follow up to his instructional drum video "A Work In Progress." The follow up will be released as a DVD and is set for release in late fall 2005. The new DVD is produced by Hudson Music and is entitled "Anatomy of Drum Solo".

Please stay tuned to rush.com in the coming weeks for information regarding these releases.
