Hey Semi_On:

What is the progress on your HTPC? You said some posts ago that you purchased a 9700 to build up a spanking HTPC. As per your suggestion I got a newer mini case that supports the P4 and has a AGP slot. The 9700 is great. I bought one too. The video is definitely top notch in comparison to the built in video card on the Epia M9000 mobo. I went with a Celeron 2.2 Ghz for now since the price is cheap and just wait till the Hyperthreading version of the P4 goes down. It weird that when I used one of my old version of 3D Mark I got a score of like 4500 while my old overclocked PC many moons ago was clocking scores of 7300 with a overclocked 700 to 933Mhz with a GForce 2 GTS. Maybe the 3D Mark is too old since its test was based on DX7 rather than todays DX9. I'll have to check out the latest 3D Mark. I'll also have to try out DSCaler since this card is supported by it. i'm still using WinDVD Platinum which does a good job with video and SPDIF output.

I haven't built my HTPC yet, actually. I have two roommates addicted to multiplayer games. I'm unsure I want to build a power computer for the living room while they still live here for fear of never being able to watch TV again.

As to your 3DMark scores, that has to be a problem of too old code. Definitely download the newest version.

I'm glad the 9700 is working for you otherwise. The one I bought is in my private rig now. It's supposed to have built in filtering hardware meant to clean up video. However, I can't say I've noticed much of a difference myself.
