Ok, you guys had such good answers for the question about the $500 receiver, I thought I would give you another chance to shine =P I'm going to be looking for a receiver in the $800-$1000ish range. So far I've been looking at the NAD t763, HK7300, and Denon avr3806. This receiver will be used with epic60/350 system (but with vp150). Use is about 60/40 movies/music with majority of the music being some really kick-butt jazz =P

What are your thoughts on the above receivers, and does anyone have any other suggestions for me to check out?

peace,
sarge

The 7300 is very highly regarded, as are the NAD and the Denon. The H/K would probably be my choice, though, mostly because of the per channel crossovers.

I don't know if the two other receivers have it, but I really appreciate H/Ks bass management system. I have the H/K 7200 and it has plenty of power. The things I don't like about it are the delay when switching between sound formats, and the amount of heat it produces (which is less problematic now that I have it in a larger room).

I think any of your choices would serve you well. Just look at the functions each brand offers and choose the one you think best. There really is no wrong answer.

Rotel has a receiver RSX-1056 which retails for 1300 bucks. I was able to find one brand new for 1K not a long time ago. I could not have it due to WAF issues. Take a look!

I'm with kcarlile and St_PatGuy on this one.
I own a Denon 2806 but if I had it to do over again I would go with H/K because of their bass managment options.

One call has the 7300 on sale for 1200 right now. I've got the 7200 and could be pursaded to let it go so I could get the 7300.

Sorry I don't recall model numbers, but I caught up on my electronic mags and saw some reviews on some Pioneers and HK (I think) that have direct connections to iPods and XM Radio antennas (built in sat rcvrs). If you want some additional features, those might be worth a look, I think they're in your price range.

The Outlaw is rated at 65 watts per channel, all channels driven simultaneously.

That is a nice rating.

Just checked out the 1070 on the Outlaw website. Looks very nice for $899 and you get a 30 trial period. It's looking like that, the Denon 3806, or probably an HK635 (unless I see a good deal on a 7300). Thanks for the input so far guys, I've been checking them all out =)

Just installed my 1070. Great bass management - separate settings for L/R, Center, Surround, Rear Surround... including a switch on the back for fixed 80Hz, bypass or digital bass management. From some msgs I've read, setting the switch to fixed 80Hz on the back allows bass to be sent to the sub when playing 2-channel via the direct bypass mode (where normally the sub doesn't get a signal). Nice remote control of lip-sync delay, easy to setup, solid as a rock. Display is hard to read across the room and haven't had a chance to really push the power, but so far a great receiver and a nice upgrade from my Yamaha RX-V630 (which states 75Wx6).
