well. my buddy, who i recently met..has a HUGE dedicated home theater with all JM Lab Focal Electra BE speakers...all around 7.1 and had..till i bought them, the 15" def tech subs....a 108" projection screen with a nice line doubler on his NEC projector. one of the nicest HT ihave ever seen...and heard...

so he comes over to hear my new Axiom M60Ti's...and he is like HOLY CRAP man...i can't believe these things sound this good for so little money. i swear if i had heard these before, i would never have spent like $7000.00 on my focals!!! who knew?!??!

i was like....your focals MUST be better though....and he's says....not really no man...and i'm being serious....
he proceeds to tell me... "these axioms...even at max volume...just do not fall apart!!!" he was blown away...so i thought i'd share this with you all...he's thinking about selling his focals and getting all axiom suff now

on a side note...i gotta say to Axiom management...i think it is a HUGE error not to have any stores carry your product. i mean, it's nice that you offer a return policy etc..but...15% of the cost of the M60Ti's would be the cost for return shipping..about 150.00 cad...just to demo them. thats just not worth it...and i think you lose a TON of sales to paradigm, energy, etc due to ppl not being able to compare them in the stores side by side...a HUGE mistake on my part. i'd rather pay a little more to be able to hear and compare instead of taking a risk like ordering and returning...just my thoughts...

if the speakers were 6000.00...then 150.00 to return would b e nothing..but for 1200.00 speakers..it is a very significant amount comparitively to the selling price. on that though...i'm not sure you get many returns...and that IS a good thing...
ok...those were my thoughts

VERY few returns, at least i think so..?

i kinda agree with you.. it was hard for me to purchase my entire home theater speakers, from a company that i had never heard of, much less, never actually heard their speakers.. but, after much research and deliberation, i took the jump, and have never looked back.

faith and commitement are a highly needed, but that makes the reward taste twice as sweet. just ask your buddy who paid $7G's for his speakers.. his humble pie is a bit sour!

Jinx, In order to satisfy the sales reps, the dealer's 50 point margin, and a few other expenses, the M-60's would run about $1900 for the pair, and the M-80's about $2400, if sold in a store.

Do you STILL wish they had store fronts ?

well, it's true he is kinda bummed out about it..but..he just spent 3800.00 USD on a new Velodyn 12" sub...i dunno that was the right move or not. i have a serious feeling he's gonna be very unhappy with this move..considering he sold all 4 of his 15" def tech PF15 TL+ subs with 500 watt/rms amps in them...2 of which are now mine!! HEHEHE....he was already talking abou tdumping the focals now...but i doubt he will....i dunno it was just my point.

if i had been able to hear the axioms in the store side by each with the paradigm studio 60's and even 100's, then i'd know for SURE how they stacked up...and if the 100s were worth anywhere near twice the price.

honestly...i'm happy to pay for stuff that is worth it...in the end..i have cheaped out on myself too many times..and regretted it everytime...

From talking to the Axiom folks, they seem to be very happy with the Internet model even if it means they are going to lose some sales to the mfgs with dealer channels.

There is no way around it -- good dealers are expensive (in terms of margins), and inexpensive dealers are... well, you get what you pay for with dealers just like everything else

There might be some kind of middle ground, eg. demo centers in major cities, but I get the feeling Axiom would rather stay with the internet and keep the prices lower. It's going to be interesting to see what happens -- Paradigm et al are trying hard to keep the traditional dealer model working and are staying away from the big box stores, so arguably they are losing sales as well. It's a tough call.

Having said all that... I bet you feel pretty darned good tonight

um...absolutely!!! i feel great actually...as for the big box stores...ppl who buy their speakers at bestbuy etc do not want to get any where near the prices of specialty stores...that being said....it's sad that they are so ill informed...i mean...axiom m60ti's are not anywhere out of the price range of most...dare i say it outloud...BLOSE systems...or others...even infinity...which used to be well regarded (i have 4 Reference 2000.6 towers made when they still made decent stuff) have fallen to the cheap, plastic, 20 lbs towers sold for 700.00 and up at BB...just makes me sick

if ppl only knew what a great setup they COULD have...but never knew they could afford, axiom and others would be leading the market and thos other idiots ie bose, kenwood etc would be history...oh well

on a side note...do you think axiom would let me do a trade in/up for M80Ti's if i am not the original owner of my M60Ti's???

I doubt it. Normally there is a time period they will work with you on a trade up, but if your the second owner that is unlikely.

Why do you think you need 80's anyway, will your receiver drive 4ohm speakers?

Craig,

Let me suggest that there are other speakers which sell for less than Paradigm in B&M shops. If I walked into a shop and I had to choose between the Paradigm reference line, Axioms and let's say the PSB image series and the PSBs were half to a third of the other two, I would probably opt for the PSBs and I think most shoppers would. Considering this, the internet model was probably a good choice for Axiom.
