I am looking forward to getting my boxes and hooking them up. I hope they sound as good as everyone has said. I have been off and on this forum for around 4 or 5 months and have finally come up with the funds to get my own. My previous system was a HTIB system that was from yamaha. I can't wait to hear the differences. Just to take a small poll. How many believe I will have a grin from ear to ear every time I listen to these? I just hope I am not getting myself to wound up. I don't want to be dissapointed. Well, have a good one everyone and thanks for all of the answers to my questions that I asked before.

You won't be disappointed. Just keep the Windex handy for cleaning the face and hand smudges of the front windows while you wait for the FedEx truck.

Congratulations on the buy. I went from a Bose system to Axioms. Why did I ever wait?

Pics and reviews expected.

You're gonna be thrilled, but don't forget: Sometimes they sound great "out of the box", but most people feel they improve significantly if you take a little time to calibrate the system.

There have been a few people who received them and said "well, they're only OK" until they calibrated the system and they ended up thrilled!

yup, mark's absolutly right about calibration, if you dont have one already you should pick of a radio shack spl meter and AVIA or DVE

I also agree, mine sounded splended out of the box. However, once I learned how to calibrate the speaker levels it was a whole new ballgame. I'm jealous of your 500

I have a Yamaha 5790 with the YPOW(I know that's not right) but will that do a good job of calibrating it or do I need to do what you guys sugested?

My Denon has an Auto Setup and Room EQ Mic calibration similar to the YPAQ. If your Yammy lets you do this, try only using the setup to set the speaker dB levels and distance(delay). If you can turn off the built in EQ part, try that. I found on the Denon the Room EQ, made my M60's sound worse with to much midrange....The other settings are very accurate I've found. I also bought the Radio Shack SPL meter to fine tune each speakers level..

Occasionally yes, normally no. Automatic calibration can do a good job of making your $3000 system sound like a $400 HT but with more "boom" in the bass

At minimum, learn how to use the test tones and manual level adjustments in your receiver. That probably won't help with the sub but with a bit of trial and error you can set the sub right by listening to a few different music tracks.

Even better, find someone who lives nearby with an SPL meter and an Avia disk and offer them beer & snacks

EDIT -- oh yeah... you might not pee your pants but the difference in sound is going to be incredible. If it isn't, you need to move the speakers around in the room some. The subwoofer in particular will probably take some experimentation to find the right spot. Do you know what a "sub crawl" is ?

Your new system is... well, just start lining up the CDs and DVDs and don't plan to sleep much the first night after you get it set up right.

JH, as Randy mentioned, the calibration part(speaker levels and distances)of YPAO is generally accurate(at least as accurate as a manual calibration with a separate meter would be). The room equalization part of YPAO is more controversial, but you can experiment with it and use it or not, as you prefer.
