Hi Eric,

As you know I have the Z2, I guess I've never noticed this problem. Actually, I don't think the Z2 has more than 1 fan, it just works in different speeds depending on the lamp mode (hi or economy). I have read on AVSforum.com that others have noticed the fan fluctuating up/down, I assume this is that the room temprature is warm enough that it has to kick on to cool it down.

I have my Z2 in the basement of our house, which is always much cooler than upstairs. I never notice it increasing speed. What is the room temprature where you have the Z2. Also, do you have it near any heating vents in the room that might be blowing on it?

You might want to post this question on AVSforum in the "Under $3500 Projector forum" I know there is ways you can go into the service menu and tweek the setting for the fan.

Not sure what else to say at this point...

Randy

I think your problem may be a result of the room itself, so the Z2 is kicking into Turbo mode to try to cool the machine. Our basement is in the high 60's to low 70's and I don't notice mine kicking on higher speeks. Heat alwasy rises, so the upstairs of a home usually is hotter than lower levels.

I don't think the higher fan speed is hurting anything, it is probably just annoying to you when your watching a movie.

How are you cleaning your filter, and how often? I know Sanyo recommends every 100hrs, to vacuum the filter, I also take compressed air and blow from the opposite side to blow the dust back out from the way it enters the filter. A lot of times a filter may look clean, but it still is dirty.

75degrees should be fine, but cooler may help if you can make the room cooler. If the projector can easily be moved, you could try taking it to a cooler room in the house and see if the fan picks up speed.

Hey Eric, did you find that on AVSforum? I have a link on AVSforum with all the instructions on how to open the Z2 and clean out the panels, this is for when use start to see dust blobs on your picture.

If you have a different link, can you post it here...thanks.

Randy
