I'm just about ready to "pull the trigger" on a pair of Black Oak M60's from the Factory Outlet and have noticed that the lead time for delivery has, in the past day or so, doubled.

Yesterday, it was 2 weeks and today it's 4 weeks. How is that determined by Axiom?, just curious. Not a big deal, but I have set myself a deadline of +/- February 19th (Daytona 500) and I'm trying to plan, accordingly.

Once you place your order the date will hold, so you will get it on or before the date of the time of order. Most people get it sooner than the date at the time of order. The date fluctuates based on manufacturing schedules and orders placed using the factory outlet.

Forgive me if this comes across the wrong way, but Factory Outlet items, in my mind, are "mistakes" that Company 'A' has made and are sold at a discounted price. If that is true, then Company 'A' needs to predict how many mistakes it's going to make?, seems kinda odd.

None of this has or will influence my purchasing of Axiom products, I'm just a detail oriented planner and found it interesting.

O.K., there's your "boring post of the day"...Happy Holidays to All.

The longer the wait, the fewer cosmetic problems Axiom is having. That's a good thing.

We don't have very much staff turnover at Axiom (I'm a newbie at 5 years) so we have a fairly consistent number of Factory Outlets in each run - the experienced team performs pretty much at the same level all the time. When one run sells out of our predicted number of Factory Outlets, we begin to sell the next run, but if you bought into run 1, that's the run you'll get. I home that is clearer, not more confusing!

In geek-speak, the percentage of cosmetic defects is modelled as a constant, so :

1. The model for factory outlet stock "production" is purely a function of the size and timing of upcoming manufacturing runs.

2. The model for factory outlet stock availability (timing) is a function of existing orders for factory outlet product (backlog) and the forecast for "production" (based on variable mfg plans and constant defect rate)

i ordered my ep600 from the f.o. and the website said 3weeks, and i got my speaker in 5 days... and as far as non A quality, me and 4 of my buddies went over my 600 when it arrived, and none of use could find 1 thing wrong with it... so if a group of 4 people "looking for mistakes" cant find any, then they must be pretty damn small.... i still dont know why my speaker was a F.O. item...

I agree with dakkon, in my mind they are not considered mistakes by any stretch of the imagination. I've purchased all of my speakers from the FO, and yet have found no cosmetic issues. My guess is they are overruns of inventory, but not sure. I did a poll a long time ago, and about 60% of the people order from the FO with no problems.

No kidding. My whole setup is FO and I never found a defect. I think Axiom should have a "find the defect" discount on FO merch. If you can find and document the defect that caused the item to be sent to FO you get 2% off your next order. I don't think they would lose much.
