What do you say Board Members, should Axiom give us just a little preview of what we may expect in 2006????? We have seen some hints in the newsletters and have heard some rumors, so why not feed us a bone?
Maybe we could consider it as Axiom's Christmas present to us???
What say the tribe???
What say Axiom???

If they release a replacement for the m22ti I might keel over.
One thing I noticed they could do would be make an m32ti something combining a 5.25 driver and 6.5 inch driver for a little better bass response (in the bookshelf line 3 stands for 6.5 inch woofer, 2 for a 5.25 inch). This would make it a pretty beefy speaker bookshelf size wise. My family thinks my M22ti's are big...an M32 would be awesome. An M33 could work too, however it would be pretty darn close to the M50. The M50 would have the advantage of more ports and more cabnet space for bass.
The biggest complaint with the M22 was lack of bass. I know with a subwoofer that goes away, but adding a 6.5 inch woofer I think would make it an all star performer.
Either that, or Ian in his brillian mind has already considered this and decided against it.

LOL! Dan, if you wait to make your purchase until the latest product comes out, you'll never make a purchase. Sit back and enjoy those 22s. I suspect there will a lot of your dorm buddies who will be envying you. And when the STF-2 arrives there will lot who will be hating you.

Yea, the walls in my house are pretty thin. I go downstairs, "hey dad can you hear them?"
"Yes Daniel, I can hear them VERY well thank you very much."
I got to about 95 decibles and no distortion. Got scared after that. Hmm.

Wait till your dad hears the new sub, it will turn into "can't ya turn that music down" The lows from the sub will traveling a whole lot further than what the M22s are.

A preview would be very nice. We've been good this year--well, some of us.

I agree Rat, makes no sense to change a design that is a proven success. I'm tired of rumors that have no factual basis.

I've always wondered what the M22s would be like as a tower speaker. Would simply extending the cabinet size, similar to the M40ti as an extended M3ti, give the M22 just enough bass? I could really see myself making that upgrade. That would be one sexy looking tower speaker, Yeah, baby, yeah!

I think that would be a great speaker but it would suffer from the same problem as the M40 -- being relatively expensive to build and ship but not offering any real advantage in an HT system over the M22.
The M40 was a great music speaker but since something like 95% of high end audio purchases are for HT not music these days (and HT systems always have a subwoofer for the bass) I don't see a bright future for small (ie not real loud) speaker systems like the M40 or the M22 (tall).
It's a pity, really. I am very happy with my M40s but I would have a tough time recommending spending the extra $$ over M3s for a system which was going to be primarily HT.

I agree, John. My M40s perfectly fit the niche for a stand-alone two channel music speaker in a small room. I ran a frequency sweep through them the other day and was surprised at what they gave back. Didn't go ultra low and high spl, but conveyed enough info that you knew it was there.

Yep... I had a tough time believing the frequency response curve of the M40s in the SoundStage review but when they arrived their bass extension really did seem as good as the review suggested :

To me; the ultimate would be a pair of self powered M80s(or even bookshelves)with digital amps matched to the electro/mechanical characteristics of the drivers/cabinets, and the ability of each individual listener to tailor his or her listening preferences to either warmer/cooler, as well as intense/subdued character, as the listening material and room parameters required.
Hey, with intellegent control over all those individual drivers, plus the port lengths....no different than mapping fuel injection!!
I 'spect that it's gonna happen soon; just be nice if Axiom got there first!!

This brings the whole bookshelf vs tower debate back to square one for me. I've noticed that most of the people who believe that towers don't give you much more compared to a good bookshelf + sub are the proud owners of tower speakers. This fact alone makes me think that I am missing out on something??

Rats!!...well guys, the cat's out of the bag
Yeah, there is a difference.
To be honest though, I didn't notice all that much of a difference other than over-all loudness and more presence, when I crossed the mains at 80hz.
When I noticed the real improvement, was when I started crossing at 60hz and insisted that the towers produce that extra 20 or so more hz of bass.
So yeah,...if the room is not too large, and the speakers are crossed at 80, then the difference isn't all that great.
And in a smaller room with a well integrated sub, the bookshelf system may even be a better bet, as "generally"(in some circles) a bookshelf speaker will outperform a tower pair in the areas of soundstaging and imaging.
YMMV, void where prohibited by law. (in a larger room though.....
....TOWERS RULE!!!!)
Rich.

I just read the Axiom Newsletter and I don't detect even a "hint" of any new products.
Oh well, you never know.
I think that the CES is right around the corner and there should be some nice new gear presented!!!!!

Yes Bernard, but the report in the new newsletter on the listening tests for distortion audibility was very interesting.

That was the test Dennis and I participated in during our trip to Santa's Factory. I took the test with a splitting headache and nearly chewed my own arm off to get out of the sound room, but apparently that didn't affect the results very much.
I was really surprised how consistent the results were from person to person. Not at all what I expected.

I thought that we might see a few new noteworthy products introduced at the CES which is currently going on.
So far, I haven't seen any, but the reports are just starting to be posted.
If any of you see anything "cool," please post the link.
