I unfortunately have done things a little backwards. Right after Christmas I ran out and bought some Polk Audio speakers. That purchases has re-ignited my appreciation for good music. Unfortunately, it also has me researching more and more equipment. I'm not unhappy with my purchase, but I am overwhelmed with all that I have seen regarding Axiom speakers.

Does anyone have experience with Polk Audio to let me know any differences in characteristics. I'm using RTi70s, CSi40, and FXi50s in my HT setup.

I'm thinking about buying a set of M22s just to get the Axiom experience. Will I notice a big difference, or should I leave well-enough alone?

Thanks!

I think that you have a very good home theatre system overall. I notice that you do not mention a subwoofer. I would be looking there first. If you have another room to outfit with an audio system, or if you were looking to upgrade the whole package then I would not hesitate to recommend the axioms.
Good listening

Of course YMMV, but judging from my own impressions on the Polk speakers, you will likely notice a significant improvement in tonal details and imaging when you listen to the M22's. If you tend to like airy, crisp, and accurate sound, you will like the Axioms better than the Polks. I second the idea of getting a pair of the M22's to "feel" the Axioms.

Thanks for your response.

Good catch. I do have a sub - PSW404.

I like what I hear. I may be struggling with buyer's remorse for no good reason. I have truly been overwhelmed by all the great reviews on Axiom. I've been struggling to find many reviews on the RTi series.

I'm glad I found this site. There is a lot of great info about music, equipment, etc.

Sushi,

I think I may do just that (whether I need them or not.) My curiosity is so high that I think it will be worth a shot.

Thanks.

For what it's worth, I liked the Polks I listened to at Circuit City a couple years back. Don't remember the models except they were floorstanders. I liked their sound over the Klipsch that we were A/B-ing them with.

Polk Audio?

Yeah, they're pretty good.. until you hear something better.

The M22's will wipe the floor with Polk Audio. I put Polk and JBL in the same quality category, which is one or two notches below. Add Mission to that category. And Paradigm (not Paradigm Reference, those are Axiom quality but twice the price, if not more).

So, yeah, Axiom is better than Polk. The M22's detail and midrange are just too darn good to pass on.

LarMan, if you are looking for reviews on Polk, check out Wes Phillips, at onhomethearter.com... He has a lot of good things to say about them.. I might also note that he gave the Axiom Epic Grand Master system his personal Product of the Year, 2002.. (Hey Sushi, that was a shared 1st place with the SIM2 HT200 DMF projector) :>

LFE ! The rest is just details..
