Hi all,

I purchased M60, VP100 and QS4 in late 2004. Finally I saved enough money to upgrade my classic Pioneer Recevier.

What would you do if you were me?

1) Harmon Kardon AVR435 (7 x 65W) for CAD $920
2) NAD T753 (6 x 70W) for CAD $1200
3) NAD T763 (6 x 100W) for CAD $1700
4) Harmon Kardon (7 x 75W) AVR635 for CAD $1900

I don't know why Harmon Kardon is so expensive in Canada when compare to US but I don't want to order through US site.

My question is if I go for NAD T763 or HK635, I've to wait for another 6 months before I can buy the sub woofer. Are there a lot of differences between AVR-435 and AVR-635? The 10 watts diefference should be nominal in term of powere if I understand clearly from Alan Loft.

Who has more 'musical' ability, NAD or HK? I'm in 5.0 and aiming at 5.1 but won't see me upgrade to 7.1 in the near future so Nad 6.1 is fine by me.

AVR435 is the best deal but it's made in China (is this ok?). I believe most things are from China now. Is Nad made in China too? I don't want to save the $300 and regret later but AVR435 can give me more money to buy sub.

By the way, my family room is 12x 12x 8 open to 8x18x8 kitchen and 4x20x8 hallway.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

I think I would prefer the NAD, but then again, I own a HK.

Another option to look at would be the Outlaw Audio 1070 receiver.

Ordering from outlaw would be similar to ordering from Axiom. Due to the open spaces you describe, a decent subwoofer would be recommended.

If you are still considering the HK AVR635, last night I stumbled upon an awesome deal for the Canadian marketplace. Check Costco online out. $1000 is by far the cheapest I've ever seen this HK priced in Canada. As you said, they are way exensive here in Canada when compared with US pricing.

I love HK's versatile base management system (can set different crossover frequencies for front vs surround vs centre speakers etc. which can come in handy in a home theater setup where the base for the different speakers taper off at different frequencies).
