Hello all,

I am about to purchase a universal SACD/DVD-A player. At the moment,
there are only two players within my price range, both Pioneers: the
Elite DV-45a and the new DV-563A. As far as I can tell, the major
audio difference between the two is that the DV-563A converts the SACD
DSD signal to PCM before sending it out as analog, whereas the DV-45a
converts the SACD DSD signal directly to analog (please correct me if
I am wrong about this).

So here's the first $155 question (that's the cost difference): Will I
be able to hear the difference on my mid-fi system? I have a Denon
1802 receiver and will have Axiom speakers all around. If the answer is "yes,"
even a little, I'll happily shell out the $155.

Second $155 question: The DV-45a has been identified as having the
"chroma bug." I don't know whether the new DV-563A has it or not. My
TV is a regular old 27" tube model. Does it matter?

Many, many thanks for your help!
