The wide range of human behavior never ceases to amaze and/or sicken me.

Oy! (shaking head) I've lived too long. Are there no depths the human race cannot sink to?

How can he be deeply demented but sane? Sane? C'mon. I'm w/ Chris Rock. What happened to the time when we just called people "crazy"?

Counterpoint on this is the fact the man killed one person that asked to be killed - technically assisted a suicide, whether for his own reasons or not.

Compared to policy makers whose decisions kill hundreds, thousands and millions - they don't physically have the blood on their hands, but they're responsible for more deaths, and we pay them for their cruelty, this guy is held up as a monster for a single death that he had the guts to perform himself with a willing participant.

The same thing entered my mind, but I could never have written it so eloquently.

Come on now Bren. God did not bless the Iraqis with fortunate birth coordinates. They or their ancestors must have done something wrong to deserve their fates.

Nah, Peter, while the warmongers are the next easiest ones to point to for these evils, it's the more insidious deaths I mean.

I live in a country with two federal political parties, one of which is pushing to Americanize our health care system, meaning less of their rich country club "gods" will die in favour of more blue-collar "clods" dying.

And Workplace Safety and Health is another big one for me... I volunteer with an Occupational Safety and Health education organization targeted towards young workers, so I end up carrying a disproportionate number of dead teenagers on their last hundred feet above ground... safety equipment costs money, and sometimes more money than the fines imposed when things go bad. Ever seen Fight Club where Edward Norton says "Take the number of vehicles in the field (A) multiply it by the probable rate of failure (B) then multiply the result by the average out of court settlement (C). A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of the recall, we don't do one." ... same thing. And I end up holding onto brass coffin rails every time X is less than the cost of making things right. There's a reason I only own black suits.

I'm gonna put "eat my penis" at the top of the list of things NOT to do before I die.

I'm creating another list titled-"Things one shouldn't attempt while living, even if someone is there to share."
