I know what you mean! Not too long ago, people were talking about "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", but only because of the sound of the gunshot scenes (and of course, Angelina Jolie). I guess the movie itself was bad, but worth watching just for the sound.

The other day, I bought "Weekend at Bernie's" (one of my favorite 'guilty pleasure' movies!) on DVD and was disappointed that the audio wasn't remastered to 5.1. Yeah...like "Weekend at Bernie's" really needs a 5.1 soundtrack!

Yeah, sometimes it just doesn't matter. I've owned the DVD of Body Heat for quite awhile, as it was a favorite movie. But I kept putting off watching it, because I bought it so long ago I assumed it was 4:3 and the audio hadn't been remastered. When I decided to watch it the other night, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was 16:9 and remastered in 5.1.
About half way through the movie, it occured to me that I hadn't heard a peep out of the surrounds, and it just didn't matter...it was a good movie nonetheless.

I don't expect much out of most comedies, either. Good surround material is not what I think of when I'm watching Vacation or My Cousin Vinny....
