Is it possible to find a speaker selector (preferably for up to 3-4 speakers) with an individual volume control, you know for level matching? The caveat is that I'd like to keep it under fifty bucks. I've found a couple of selectors around the forty dollar range, but no volume control. I have a feeling I may be asking for too much for too little.

St Pat,
Sometime several months back i was looking for a speaker switcher with the same gain controls. Take a look for Russound products. It is not a major brand name company and it seems they sell to pro shops who use such items for clubs, restaurants etc.
I was hoping for something with a bit more quality, but i plan on modding this one to suit my needs. I can pass you pictures of you want.
I think they are around my computer somewhere.

I managed to get the SDB 2.1 from Audiogon if i recall. It might have been ebay. It was missing the rear connectors (which are awful i might add) but the fellow managed to scrounge up 3 connectors after several weeks of searching for a place in his Californian city (don't recall which one) that actually serviced the things. It was VERY difficult to get ahold of the parts apparently.

Thanks, Chess. I took a look at that SDB 2.1, and you're right, those connectors look horrible. I'm going to do a search to find a price on it. Something tells me I may have to settle for a selector without gain controls.

The connectors are not unlike the spring snaps on some cheaper or older receivers. The lid is easy to remove though and with some desoldering and resoldering, i'm replacing these clips with banana jacks.
Other than the stepped pots, the unit should work perfect for speaker switching, blind testing, A/B setups and SPL correction.
