For a bar area. In basement with subfloor, has laminate hardwood floor..the uniclic stuff. 8' ceilings. 11wx22. Most of the room is a dance floor, no rugs, wooden bar, some oak cuboards, and of course a few bar stools. Room has 2 windows, typical basement 36" windows with curtains. Room is lined with Pine trims, mouldings and shelving.

Speakers for Music only. rap, pop, top 40, alternative, rock etc.

Type of sound I like is usually a bit bright, not too much mids as I hate the tin'y sound, and good strong bass. I have m80's on a yamaha and I love it.

Won't have sub right away, but will down the road. To be honest I might skip it all together as as my hsu is very near this room and I could just use it....darn thing is amazing and shakes entire house.

Wondering if I should go with 2 m22ti's or m3's. I might even think of 4 m3's with one in each corner if money allows

How loud are you expecting to play them?

Have you considered using a pair of the W3s ? I have them set up with a two channel Halo system (125 watts per channel) in a room very similar in size and design, and friends find the sound very impressive. Just tossing in the suggestion.

can't use m3's. Outside walls, insulated etc.

How loud? Well, the girls like it loud. Not m80 loud, but loud enough. Kind of hard to really say isn't it. I certainly don't want the things to go boom during the first party.

I don't let anyone use my main stereo for parties. I have a old set of Cerwin Vega d-9's on an 100 watt amp that I've used for parties that work well. I'm selling them, just too big. But the vega's don't sound the greatest in this room as the bass gets lost in the room.

As an owner of a pair of M3's that drive my main HT setup I would highly recomend them. I've even demo'd a pair of M22's in my room. I loved both speakers but for the types of music you want to play on them I'd say the M3's would be better. Plus they do work better without a sub.

Agreed!.....and if the room is somewhat bright then the M3s may make it sound even closer to the M80s in the other system.

Yup, four M3s without a sub(or even augmented by one in another room)sounds like a winner!!

(....ok, ok, so I'm real partial to my M3s also )

Dandy little speakers!
Rich.

Had both M22s and M3s. I'd go with the M3s as well.
