OK, I got my M80's (High Gloos Cherry) Monday. So far, I'm liking them very much! But, is this smell going to go away? I read that some of you like it, but I find it fairly obnoxious! Will it get better?

Yes, it goes away. Sooner if you play lots of bassy music to move air through them.

I'm guessing it is just like any other paint or stained product, eventually the smell will go away, unless something is burning up inside. They most likely send these off shortly after manufacturing and QA. Heck, our house was built 4.5yrs ago and sometimes when we come back after being away for a weekend, it still smells new when we walk in the front door.

If you carefully smear some limburger cheese on your upper lip, you won't care about the speaker smell when listening to music. I strongly advise NOT doing this when going out in public.

It is pretty much gone after about around a month id say.

My first pair of axioms I had a couple years ago smelled ok. But the HG cherry 80's i got in august smelled like.... smelly feet. lol

Im kinda glad that the smell went away, After coming home to having my house closed up all day wasnt really the most pleasant thing.

It smells like glue or some kind of paint to me. I'm glad to hear it will subside.

Any suggestions for cleaning the HG finish?
