I'm helping someone w/ their 2807 and programming a Harmony 880. Man, that's a much more complex AVR vs my Pio 45TX.
I'm trying to program the 2807 to Dolby Digital from an unknown state. On my Pio, I put it into Stereo and then program a macro to setup Dolby Digital. Trying to do the same w/ the 2807.
I tried following the manaul and even using the AVR's buttons vs the remote and it's still confusing to get straight DD.
1) Can someone give me the fewest amount of key presses so I can give it a try? 2) What does DD + PLIIx Cinema mean? I'm confused about the dual mode.
Thanks.

Cesar, hopefully a Denon owner can help with the key presses for DD, rather than me trying to figure it out, but I'll try your 2). DD+PLIIx means that DPLIIx is applied on top of DD for a 7.1 setup, i.e., the front three DD channels aren't affected but the surround info in the fourth and fifth side channels is processed. The material which should be imaged in back is extracted and sent to the back surround speakers.

Thanks John.
I don't have a 7.1 system and neither do my in laws so I was trying to remove that mode since I wasn't sure of the value.
Have a good New Year's.

If I remember correctly DD+PLIIc is for when its in the auto setting and you will get DD if the recevier gets the signal otherwise you get PLII.

Cesar, if the speaker configuration is correctly set for the 2807, i.e., no back surround speakers, just 5.1, then nothing special has to be done to "remove" DPLIIx, since DPLIIx only comes in when back surround speakers are shown. With a 5.1 setup there'd be no place for DPLIIx to send the back surround material extracted from the side channels.

John is correct. Don't worry about removing the setting; it doesn't come into play. Simply set the 2807 to AUTO.
