Hi, I am going to be purchasing a new Travel Trailer in the near future and am thinking of an audio system for it.
Will a 12 volt automotive type stereo push my M22's? I do most of my camping in wilderness areas. No services etc. so like to be fully self contained and rely on 12v.

That sounds like a great idea- I'm no expert with this, but I would imagine so. Just a few watts of power can give you some pretty good volume levels with these. If you get a good quality stereo with higher wattage output per channel I don't see why not.

Hopefully you can get some more opinions on this first however.

my guess is ohms is ohms, and watts are watts, so it should work fine.

if your car stereo was rated for 4 ohm and you put some 8 ohm m22's in there, it still should work, you just wouldnt get the full rated power out of the stereo.

I was hesitant to post earlier cause I thought i could be wrong. I'd be more worried about a good solid mounting of the speakers so they dont fall on someones head while driving down the road. M22 are 16lbs each.

I envision brackets to hang them either outside ( under the awning of course) for outdoor, around the campfire enjoyment or, hanging inside on brackets. The brackets would have to be able to release the speakers quickly. Do the Axioms brackets for the M22s release the speakers? I would plan on taking them down while travelling and packing them away, so as not to have them fall (That would likely have me in serious trouble on this board) while travelling.

I really do like the idea of being able to take my M22s with me so I don't have to worry about them being home alone for weeks on end .

They are bolted on the back of the speaker, but the part that mounts to the speaker is perpendicular to the speaker at the bracket and easily accesible with the allen wrench. Relatively easy to swap to different areas.

Thanks for the info. The brackets should work well. I will be looking into automotive audio that can be mounted in the trailer with plenty of watts to push the speakers. All the RV manufacturers offer built in units but I haven't seen or heard any that impress me much. So I'm on a mission to find a good unit to install in a trailer. Any tips or ideas are always appreciated. It will be interesting to hear how the M22s perform outdoors.

So far as receivers go pick any of the bigger brand names, Pioneer, Clarion, Panasonic, they all make good units.

The trailer is totally up to you, way to many manufactures out there to pick from.

Yeah, An inverter is definitely a way to go. I've looked at them before. That way I could put my old Technics receiver in the trailer. How much battery storage does it take to store power to run, lets say a stereo receiver and a couple 40w lights for an evening?
