Here is a JPEG drawing of my living room with speaker placement and type. I'm looking at the Epic 80 350. Is this overkill for my room? I was planning on putting the QS8's on polls slightly turned toward the center. Would the M60s or M22's be better? I like floor standing speakers. Thanks for all the help on this great board.

Personally, I feel the M60's would be fine in your situation, and wouldn't go with anything less than the EP350. But that's just my opinion. The M60's are stellar performers, trust me

So the M80's would be overkill? Or too big for the room??
Thanks for the response. I take all the help I can get.

My personal opinion is that there is no such thing as "overkill" for most situations. That is why I end up spending more than I need to on things.

M80s would ROCK that room, but then again, so would M60s. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to put M60s in there and feel like I had a really awesome system. You will get others who will say, "If you can spring for the extra cash, get the M80s and never look back." Valid point, but you will, again, be extremely happy with M60s in your room.

I have a 12' x 15' room and I just purchased some M60's. I picked the M60's because my wife wanted the custom wood finish and that put the M80's out of reach for me. Based on everything I've read (I haven't yet received my speakers!), pair the M60's with an ample sub and you'll never regret your decision. I've never had a credible person tell me that there is such a thing as "too much" speaker. My wife, on the other hand...

I agree with the previous poster that an EP350 should be the minimum. Great things are said about the EP500 (but for WAF, I would have bought it) and the SVS and HSU subs. I bought the SVS SB12-Plus because of the WAF and form factor and am reasonably pleased with it so far. As good as it is, my room could probably benefit from a larger/another sub...perhaps my next upgrade.

When we say "M60s would be enough..." we mean "...enough, so spend the extra money upgrading to an EP500 instead which would do more for your enjoyment than the M80s would". That's a nice sized room; M22s would be enough but M60s would be ideal.

Not saying the M80s wouldn't be even better but they are "more better" in a big room while spending more on the sub would make a more dramatic difference for the $$.

If you could angle the QS8s so they are pointing inwards rather than forward I think that would help BTW.

I agree with Bridgman on applying the cost difference between the M60 and the M80 toward the EP500. It'll really make all the difference.

I remember when I bought my M60s I was worried that once I received them I would be wishing I'd purchased the M80s instead. This never happened. The outside of the M60 box says High Performance Loudspeaker System, and they aren't kidding. My room size is very similar to yours, and the M60s are more than adequate for it...way more than adequate at all volume levels. Without hearing the M22s, I feel confident the M60s were the right decision. If I had to do anything differently, I would buy the VP150 over the VP100, but still, I'm very happy with the VP100 and it fits well within the limited space I have for it. My limited space is also the reason why I went with the SVS SB12-Plus sub. It's proven itself to be an excellent performer in my system without taking over the entire room.

Once I get my downstairs finished next summer, being a much larger room no doubt my choice will be the M80s, QS8s, VP150 or M22s for a center solution, and the jury is still out on the sub solution.

So, the sub-woofer makes that much of a difference? Reason I ask is the Epic60 with a 500 sub is actually more than the Epic80 with a 350 sub. I don't like the booming of most rap songs, but I know it's important for movies. I just didn't think the 2 inches would matter much.

Okay, Someone above mentioned turning the QS8's inward toward the listening center. I said I was going to do that, but I've been considering my space and was wondering if I mount the QS8 on the wall behind the main listening spot(about a 1.5 foot behind) and just over head (about 1 foot over the head of the person) would this be okay? The stands would put them at the same height, only I could move them parallel with the listening spot, rather than have them behind the listener. They will just be in the room and kina in the way (you know all the domestic stuff). Would mounting them on the wall really make that much difference in sound quality??
What about using the Full Metal Bracket for the QS8's? I can then tilt them in toward the listener and slightly above their head, but they'd be behin the listener. Thanks
