Dang...they need a 2nd coat I think. I can see it with them sitting on my floor but I am hoping when mounted up hi it wont be an issue.

I definetly hear port noise if they are cranked and you put your ear by the port. I could hear it bad (sitting far from them)only on one song. I listen to bass heavy songs but outside I dont think I will have them that loud.

I see this being a big problem with everyday use kidding.

Question, was the port screen really intended for keeping bugs/wildlife out or was it for some of those questionable Axiom owners??

Unfortunately, I have to concur on the painting issue. I have Almond Bisque and the paint appears thin in areas and/or the speakers weren't prepped correctly before painting. That is, it looks like there is dirt/dust under the paint. I chose to ignore it since they are mounted high enough that the defects aren't visible. At eye level, the defects are clearly visible.

They do sound great though.

Do you have them close to a soffit underhang, perhaps the soffit is loose and causing unwanted coloration.

They are sitting on the floor inside for now.

I agree if you have to put your ear to it to hear it....its not that big of a deal. But there was one song I listen to where I was 8 feet from the speakers and I thought it was making something vibrate....so when I got up and looked there was nothing around them vibrating....it was the port noise and it was pretty loud. I would say 99% of the time it wont be a problem...but it is there. The subs were moving a LOT of air for me to hear it that far away....probably MUCH louder than I would run them out side. I also listen to a lot of rap and bass heavy music that could be the other part of the problem

Seems the paint issue needs to be addressed. A second coat for sure...maybe some sort of paint booth too. But mounted hi up you wont see these issues.

Hi:

The Algonquin outdoor speaker is the first time that our paint shop has worked with plastic. We have had a few interesting issues with the painting. Plastic creates static that attracts dust, an issue that does not happen with the real wood speakers.

Our paint shop has improved the process with additional filtering and dust removal steps. We have also noted the need for more paint on the speakers. Originally, the Algonquin speakers had 2 coats of paint and a layer of UV protectant. Now, the paint shop is doing 3 coats plus the UV coat.

The Algonquin speakers are painted after they are assembled so the port tube will not be fully painted.

Yes painting plastic is way different than wood...been there done that. For me it seemed the paint was thin on that angled part around the top of the speaker. The rest seemed to have decient coverage but dust under it. I am not worried about the screen in the port being painted.
