I have my tv, dvd player, rotel amps and preamp, direct tv dvr all plugged into my Monster HTS2600 power conditioner. Should I do the same or will I lose any power, or just plug into diff outlet? By the way, just got my EP500 today, that sub is BIG!!!!!!!!!!! Haven't had a chance to mess with settings yet, not sure where to start.

Congratulations on your purchase. I am sure you will enjoy it.
It all depends on how loud you listen to your system. I would plug the 500 into the conditioner and move it to a different circuit if you experience any problems.
I have my TV, 90W/channel receiver, DVD player, tape deck and EP600 on the same circuit and have never had a problem even when cranked.

I've wondered about this myself from a surge protection point of view. I've got everything else going through a surge protector including the antenna cable (antenna-how quaint ), and here is the sub just plugged into the wall with that cable running back to all that equipment. I did see a surge protector advertised specifically for subs, but it did not instill confidence.

I'm sure that Axiom and any reputable equipment manufacturer has a certain level of transient protection built into their supplies. But we have no idea what that level is. Kansas is an area of high lightning activity. You might sleep better at night knowing that a "good" surge protector is guarding your equipment.

When I had inquired about a surge protector for my EP-500, I received the following reply from Brent at Axiom: "Hi John, Thanks for your e-mail! Check out Belkin, APC or Tripplite surge protectors, all are superb units. Look to a joule count of 700 or more. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly anytime - my contact information is below - or call the Axiom toll-free line at 1-866-244-8796 - any of our Audio Experts would be pleased to help. Kind regards, Brent Tombari"
You would want to have at least 700 joules of surge protection if you choose to use one. On inquiring about this, I found out that surprisingly few people are actually using surge protectors for their subs.

I now have all my a/v equipment plugged into Brickwall surge protectors. I just re-checked the specs to see if they hit the 700 joule mark - Brickwall units are rated at "unlimited" due to design. I recently had my EP500 plugged into one of those $8 surge strip cords and after an electrical storm the sub was the only piece that took a hit (blown fuse). I now have it plugged into on of the Brickwall units and yesterday afternoon we had a doozie of a storm front with lots of local lightning and all equipment is still running... so far. Electricity is a funny thing and a lightning strike can zap anything, even if the breaker is OFF. So I'll brag for now until Murphy pays me a visit. Scott

I think we got that same storm up here this morning...
At least the radar showed it coming up here after it left your area.
No issues with equipment...just a "stormophobic" Golden Retriever...My equipment is all plugged into a Panamax unit...sub included.

Ok, I guess I'll plug it into my Monster HTS 2600 in the spare amp outlet. Reason I submitted this post was because someone told me that I am going to lose power to the sub if plugged into the protector. Just plugged it in, still has same power and now feel safer when a storm hits. Ok, I'm drooling about this sub, so another post about this sub with diff settings.

Congrats on your EP500, Eric...Great Choice!!!
I decided to go with the Monster Power 3600 MKII for all of my HT power protection... power amp(Emo LPA-1)- pre\pro(Emo LMC-1) - DLP 61" display - HD DVD - DTV HD receiver - Axiom EP500 Sub - Acoustimas SS module!!
With everything on and running, my current RMS draw is 3.5 amps (2 amps to DLP alone). At peak, undistorted, full action, Loud DB Levels (110db @ listening chair) with heavy LFE energy, I saw "Once" a peak hit 5.0 amps, then drop down in the low 4 amp ranges! NEVER has the Emo LPA-1 gotten hot, clipped or sounded strained while the EP 500 was hitting Slab-Shaking Levels that caused ripples in the waterbed on the other side of the house (U-571 depth charges) !! Audio dynamics seemed to have unlimited headroom and I never saw or heard Any of the HT equipment strain or freak out due to lack of A\C current feed!!! Pushing the volume any louder would have required PPE's ("earplugs")!
Here is another good discussion on the topic of A\C power & Conditioners: http://emotiva.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1180644794
In my experience, yes, you will still have plenty of power...as long as you have a solid feed from the breaker to the outlet!
