Sounds like a great day, Nick.

I prefer "harvest the fescue" to "mow the grass"

Happy Birthday!

Thanks everyone. I know that I am more of a "quiet" member here, but I read the forums at least three times a day, even if I am not posting, so the birthday wishes are very much appreciated.

Well, it doesn't look like I am going to get to fly the plane today, and I know tomorrow is fairly booked up. I decided that instead of going flying and dragging my family along, we would go bowling. There is a new place that opened up about 5 blocks from our house, so we went there. I think that my kids have bowled about 3 times ever in their lives, and I go probably on average once every 1-2 years. It was fun. Now I am kicking back and getting ready to fire up the grill for some yummy steaks.

Yet another Happy Birthday, Nick! You gave a fairly detailed outline of your day, but didn't you leave out something important? When Indians' third baseman Casey Blake, the pride of Indianola, Iowa, has a break, he reports that he goes home and "eats some corn". Iowans do not live by steak alone, surely?

LOL... Too funny... The full menu tonight was the yummy steaks, baked potatoes (I told my wife just simple potatoes and nothing fancy like she wanted), a lettuce salad, fresh baked bread, fresh (but chilled) watermelon, oh, and sweet corn (on the cob, picked this morning)...

So we did get our sweet corn....

Oh, and I don't know about you Sirquack, but the "Grimes" sweet corn around here isn't very good in my opinion. Since my in-laws came in town tonight in time for supper, we had them bring some really good sweet corn from Dubuque. Way better than anything that I have had from Grimes. I need to find some other good corn stand in the area for next year.

Now we are just hanging out watching videos from my oldest daughter's performances the past week or so at the Iowa State Fair.

FOr presents I got a movie (Fracture), a bag of Swedish Fish (yum), another cymbal for my Rolad TD-6SXT drum set. The drum set that I got at Christmas last year is also my birthday present this year, Christmas present this year, birthday next year again, Father's Day gifts, etc, etc... So basically I just get money from everyone and make another payment on the drum set.

All in all a good day.

We have never purchased the Grimes stuff, my folks get some from some farmer near Ankeny, it is pretty good. My wifes folks also brought some down from their farm in New Hampton in NE Iowa, great also...

Next year we are going to plant some in our garden next to the tomatoes and beans.
