While wasting time at AVS, I starting zipping through the Cary Audio Cinema 11 thread and ended up putting that little bugger on my “to watch” list.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=809659

I have no knowledge of Cary Audio or if their stuff is any good or not. After reading up on the Cinema 11, I’m guessing it’ll be a dandy as it uses many components found in the Lexicon MC12 (costing over 12K). The Cinema 11 is a stand alone Pre/Pro that was designed to work with their soon to be released Cinema 11v stand alone video processor. They intentionally left HDMI out of the audio processor’s data path and will be using their own I-link between the 11v and 11. The 11v will have six HDMI 1.3 inputs and two live HDMI 1.3 outputs. The 11v will strip the high rez audio off the HDMI input and send it to the Cinema 11 via their I-link (up to 8 channels of 24 bit / 96 kHz each).

This combo sounds pretty cool. MSRP for the 11v is $3500 and the Pre/Pro has an MSRP of $3000.

I just ordered a DVDO VP-50 Pro via DVDO’s upgrade program and I’m thinking I should cancel that order and get this Cary set up. Does anyone have any direct experience with Cary Audio or their products??

Mike, maybe that "head vs. side window" event in your friend's Z06 has affected your judgment. Just to be safe, you should send me all of your fast toys so as to best protect your brainpan.

Mike, you better save some of your pennies for Napa, I have a feeling you'll need allot of them there.

Good thing I have on-line financial advisors to bring me to my senses or I really would be broke….. lol

I’m actually thinking about next year, or somewhere down the road anyway. DVDO has me by the nuts, so I didn’t really have much choice in that. Well, it was the lesser or the evils… I did have a choice but decided to choose to spend some more money with the upgrade and get noise reduction. They gave me more for my VP-50 in trade in than I could have sold it for, plus 15% off.

I am pretty broke and my Napa trip was the cause and I haven’t even left yet. That and my girlfriend. I went to buy a new dinner jacket so I could get in some of the restaurants that require a jacket (last one bought was 1990 something). Just a jacket mind you all, but Sarah had a different idea of what I needed to buy (the evil wench). Two grand later I escaped the overly friendly salesman and his ever persistent tape measure, pins and flair for colors with the lil’ lady thinking the afternoon was the funniest she has had in years.

Something I forgot to mention in your other thread about SF just crossed my mind while preparing dinner. Your gal might enjoy going here CIA We've driven by it on several of our visits but never stopped in, it's an impressive looking place.

mdrew, you're out of control.
What ever happened to the Calif. trip?
And why do i recall reading you were going to send some wine abroad to all us fine folks here on the forums?

Control is just an illusion Chess…….

If I remember correctly, you were going to send ME some fine wine. The California trip isn’t till October. I was going to hit Germany for Oktoberfest but couldn’t get tickets. So I’m going to Napa this year, Germany next year.

Thanks for the tip Michael. I'll add that one to the list. We have reservations set up at your favorite restaurant for a wine pairing dinner (the one you recomended in that other thread).

So what about Cary Audio anyway? I almost forgot what I started this thread for...

I can't help you with advice on this particular product, but Cary products in general are very highly regarded. They get lots of praise in Stereophile magazine and they usually sell very quickly when put on Audiogon. The company is based in North Carolina. Just my two cents.
