Too funny... I was just about to post this...

These two disks showed up in the mail yesterday. I was pretty excited to hear them, and rushed to do just that. I didn’t get through ether one though. I only got about ten minutes into each before realizing that I’m just going to have to be in the right mood for this “stuff”…..

In a word to describe them, the only thing I can come up with is “U-HU” with a sarcastically confused tone. The first thing that came to my mind is that stoners would love this stuff.

I don’t know what this genre is because you just don’t hear this stuff where I live. I believe it’s contemporary techno of some sort. I heard this sort of music at a couple contemporary bars and restaurants when I was wandering around San Francisco and a couple of them funky art galleries in St. Helena. – Not really my choice in music, but it is pretty cool if in the right mood, I suppose.

The video on both these disks is very disappointing. It’s not video, but just pictures in a slide show / screen saver format. If you’re into space, the space disk has, well…., pictures of space…. Not much more to say about that. The other one has some weird pictures. I don’t know what to call them other than weird. The pictures on both disks do not deserve to be called HD either. If you have a TV in your main living area, these would be good for background ambiance at parties, but other than that, I couldn’t just sit and watch them for very long.

All is not a complete loss though….

The audio is recorded in DTS-HD:Master 7.1 with a sample rate of 96 kHz. I have not ever heard anything as clear and accurate as what’s on these disks. The only thing that comes close is SACD and these two disks have the edge over any SACD that I have. The discrete 7.1 channel recording isn’t just one of those recordings with a few odd sounds behind you. The surrounds and surround backs get plenty of work and if you close your eyes, you really do feel like you’re inside the music. The LFE track isn’t over powering, but just right.

or these :

or these:

maybe these?:

just trying to get an idea of what it sounds like, and if it would be anything that I like.

I typically like a wide range of music, and that includes music which may make others say "U-HU" in a sarcastic tone. ;\)

I wonder how it would sound on a 5.1 system....

I was also thinking about getting the mozart one.
