As some of you may know, I impulsively purchased a pair of M80s on an online auction site not too long ago. While I love the way the speakers sound, I'm not too crazy about the cherry finish.

Since my current receiver cannot handle the 4ohm load at higher volumes, I've loaned the speakers to my father for use in his home theater, which is much nicer than mine, but still cannot be driven too loud because of the 4ohm load. The Boston cherry M80s are also not very aesthetically pleasing in a dark blue room with a black VP-150 in the middle.

I was wondering if any fellow Axiomites would be interested in a trade? I'm looking particularly for a pair of M80s or even M60s in a black finish. I'm not completely against shipping the speakers, but I would prefer to keep this trade local (06082 - CT). Shoot me a PM if you're interested!

I don't think this would be against forum rules, since your talking about trading. Just keep in mind we are not allowed to discuss "for sale" or "wanted" items of the forum. \:\)

Thanks for the link Hutzal, I will most likely end up using this method if I cannot find anyone to trade 1:1. Unfortunately the M80s only give about $350 credit towards a pair of M60s. I may add some QS8s to get the full trade in value, though I don't know if I can justify spending the extra money at this moment.

Terzaghi, my father and I both use Onkyo receivers. I own a 304 and he has a 605 (unfortunately no pre-outs on either model). Both receivers ran quite hot when using the M80s so I removed the speakers from the theater room to prevent any possible damage (and also because the cherry finish clashes with the entire room). Right now we are using M22s as mains, but the room is rather large (31x14x7) so an M60 would likely be the best fit - also because it's 8ohms.

Right now the M80s are in the living room running in stereo on "small" speaker mode on an older Yamaha receiver. No problems, but I would really like to be able to crank them up while watching a movie in full surround.

PS I apologize if I violated any forum rules. Mods, feel free to delete this thread if I have.

Holler,

Considering what you spent on the speakers, you will be getting an awesome deal for a trade in, although you will have to buy $2000 worth to get the full trade in value. (in the end you only spend around $1000 after the M80s get traded).
