Ok I know this is kinda crazy to even consider one versus the other. I kinda have limited space in my family room:

Would it be worth considering the W22 instead of the M60. I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old, and having the floor standing speaker might pose a problem. How much sound quality am I sacrificing with the in-wall W22.

I'm looking at either of those with QS8 and the VP150 and a HSU sub. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I just went from M22s to M80s and the sound difference is substantial, but if you must go the smaller speaker route I highly recommend the M22s and by all reviews of the W22s they should sound nearly the same as the M22s. You do give up a more rich and fuller sound going to the W/M22s from the floor standers. There is no substitute for a full range larger speaker.

I don't think the kids are that big of an issue, I have a 4 and 7yr old and my M80s are in their play area which doubles as the HT room. In your room I think the floor standers would just stick out too much from that entertainment unit and use up too much floor space and I would bet the WAF would be very low with that.

Jason,

Thanks for the response. Yea when I had the wall unit built, I thought I was thinking ahead, but turns out I didn't consider some stuff, like the space for the floor standing speakers.

I have a 10 year old set of Mission bookshelve speakers now for the fronts and rears, and a B&W center with no subwoofer, so no matter what I decide, it's gonna be a big improvement.

I have always liked Mission speakers.

I don't understand how using inwalls would help you very much. Would you frame a fake wall to enclose two of the current openings in the entertainment center? Is there room on the side shelves for upright M22's?

I'm with Jason; adapting floorstanders in that room seems kind of inelegant.

You can use M22s with FMBs mounted on the pillars beside the tele.

I was thinking that area might be hollow and that was why he was thinking 'W' series, which would look incredible and still sound good too.

Well I was thinking of mounting the W22's on the wall to the left and right of the TV. I could get the M60's and cut out space for them in the same place, the area to the left and right of the TV.

I don't know how they would sound put in flush with the rest of the entertainment center. I know they are ported out of the front, but I don't know if they are ported out of the back. I know there have been discussions on how far off the back wall people put their speakers. I didn't thinking getting M60's and making a cut-out in the entertainment center would make them sound good.

Any thoughts?

do you have to put your AV stuff there? You could get regular M22s and stick them on those shelves...

That was my thought, M22s on the outside edge in the shelving giving a nice wide soundstage
