You should be able to get the same result with a single cable (I'm assuming that you're connecting the EP175 to the sub pre out of your receiver).

Line level RCA cables are pretty much all the same (contrary to what the Best Buy sales guy will tell you). Weather you go 3' or 100', it shouldn't matter. Don't break the bank on sub a cable, or any other for that matter. Buy cheapest 50' foot cable with RCA ends you can find. Just ensure the RCA connections are in good shape.

Yes it will be connected to the sub preout line on the rear of my yamaha receiver. Is there a reason why older subs have the Left and Right input rather then the single one you see on todays subs?

They have L/R inputs for stereo set ups when the preamp or reciever has no sub out.

arcticair, I would suggest going to monoprice for all your cable needs... They have a 50' premium sub cable for $11.39 plus shipping. You really cannot beat that price... monoprice.com I have the 25' variant of this cable, and the build quality and connectors are top notch.

I've purchased the long run RCA cables from MonoPrice and can vouch for both their quality and their "heartiness". For the price, they are an unbeatable value.
You might also consider linking a few smaller RCA cables, if yo've got them laying around, with some RCA links (AXIOM sells them, in fact). You won't notice any decrease inquality, but can save a few bucks and feel good about using exisitng cables rather than buying brand new ones.

Or do what I did and use a piece of RG6 coax with a couple of F-connector to "RCA" connectors on the ends.
Everyone's got plenty of coax around, don't they?

Except that shipping to Vancouver Island starts at about US$25. You'd need to be in the market for a variety of cabling and accessories before it becomes worth the int'l shipping.

the rg6 I have laying around seems to be stiffer than sub coax from places like blue jeans, etc...

Oh it is and will be... it's solid core (thus how you get the pin) rather than stranded... but mine takes a single radiused bend from AVR to sub... no problems there.
And it's something everyone already has... plus 75 ohm rated and shielded... everything you want!

Thanks man, I just purchased two of the new 350v3's to go with my 600 for my large room. Now I have to figure how to hook them all up, and run the cable around the room.
I wonder if I can tuck between the floor trim and carpet so my kids won't constatly pull it around the room, hmmm.

A good buddy of mine that does custom HT and whole house audio installations sold me these, a crimper, and wire stripper. I am sure you could get these things on Ebay too. This allows me to create custom cable lengths (RG6 and RG59). If I need a cable that is 19.5 inches long, I simply make one at that length. It really cleaned up back of my audio rack. I would recommend this to anyone who hates the look of extra long cables buldging out of the audio rack.

Where does one find a decent subwoofer Y-Cable to split the LFE into two paths at the receiver? Monoprice does not seem to make one, that I can find...
thanks, Randy

One will not have an audio advantage over the other. I have used both kinds, Radio Shack sells both.

I notice Radio Shack's website offers NXG, Monster, and a few other brands on the Y cables. Not sure they are in their stores though...

so you just used their Gold series Y Cable to split out the back of your Rotel? I think my plan is since the SMS-1 has 3 LFE out ports, I will hook the 350v3's to that and adjust the freq for best results. Since the 600 is DSP controlled I'm not going to have it running through the SMS-1, just basically use it as an "anchor" as Jakeman likes to say.

Rat Shack stores in our area carry those Monsters and the other brands, I'll go there for hard to find connectors and associated hardware only. Our local Home Depot and Lowes are both now carrying just about most A/V interconnects, cables and etc... that I'll most often need.

I will be out today to Wally World and a few other places, I'll see what I can find.. I also am going to need additional coax for all the subs, and maybe a real long length to reach the 600, wherever it ends up. The 20 ft blue jeans cable I have is very flexible on placement, but was a bit pricey. Monoprice has very cheap/high quality subwoofer coax, but not sure it is as flexible. I suppise the RG59 is a little better than the RG6 in that category...

No, it looks like the ones that you're pictured require an F-connector to already be on the end of the coax(which is probably what Ken meant). The little pin on the F-connector fits into the little opening shown on those connectors; the bare coax wire doesn't fit into them.
An RCA crimp-on connector such as Rick pictured can be used on the coax, or you can put an F-connector on the end of the coax and then plug it into a separate F to RCA connector, similar to some of those that you pictured.
