If all axiom speakers are audiophile quality why do so few on this board like the m50? It seems as though it is the most ridiculed speaker built by Axiom. Many seem to prefer any other Axiom speaker to these. Considering they are a floorstander with dual woofers wouldn't they be a superb addition to a living room? I was recently told by someone not on this board that the m50 and m60 sound identical except the 60 has a little more "control". What is meant by control I have no idea. Are these speakers brothers or not?

I've heard the M50's... They aren't bad at all. However, for a little bit more, you can get a better speaker in the M60's.
I don't ridicule the M50's, they're just not my favorite. But if someone said 'hey, here's a pair of M50's' I'd take them, very thankfully.

I demoed both side by side and the midrange driver on the M60's really makes for a smoother range in my opinion. I just liked the clarity more. I'm guessing on the 50s that the mid range is split between the tweeter and one of the woofers. The 50s didn't sound bad in any way - the 60s just sounded better :-)
