Got some original Glenn Gould on vinyl recently. Listened to the 81 version of the Goldberg Variations last night. Very beautiful on vinyl. I read that engineers hated working with him because of the humming. I didn't hear as much on the vinyl as I did on the CD version. I felt the CD, oddly, was more accurate and engaging. It's usually the opposite - vinyl is usually far more superior and realistic. The vinyl on the Goldberg Variations is wonderful sounding, but it was also an early digital recording, which makes me wonder. Perhaps they were able to expand on that digital recording 20 years later, when the CD that I purchased was released. Anyway, both are very enjoyable.

Agreed, but I usually don't like the remastered versions. This is one exception, clearly.

Zoe, although it's a bit pricey, because of your listening preferences you absolutely have to get this .

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

That's a bargain! But, wait, I want the humming. Maybe they have a reverse humming version? That would likely cost double though. LOL!!!
