I forgot to post about this earlier. When my Axioms arrived last weekend, several of the little round plastic connectors that connect the screens into the holes in the speakers were snapped off and are stuck inside the speaker. All of the screens still have enough functional ones to attach properly, but has anyone else had similar problems? I was a bit frustrated to see that on speakers of this caliber before I even touched them. I'm sure it happened during shipping (FedEx) but perhaps a more rugged part could be used.

Anyway, any advice on how to get the plastic bits out without damanging anything and if replacement screens or parts are available?

Thanks!

Greg

Just guessing but careful use of a stripped screw remover might do it. Even though they technically don't twist, a little twisting pressure with one might give you the grip you need to pull it out.

Might take some careful Dremmel tool usage first depending on the shape of whatever is left of the plastic insert in there.

They may not actually be broken, just pulled off. Some of mine were like that.

Well one of them is definitely broken because it is half on the screen, half left in the speaker. The others are in the speaker with the screen off. I will investigate if they are fixable or broken off. Fishing them out of the speaker will be fun!

What you do is drill out a hole slightly smaller than a small screw that will fit into the broken piece. Now take the screw twist it into the freshly drilled hole in the broken piece and use some pliers to pull out the broken piece using the screw as a handle.

One was broken on my QS8- I called axiom and the sent me a new grill- you should be able to pull them out with small needle nose pliers

you could always heat up a thin piece of metal (like a pin) and stick it into the stuck piece, wait for it to cool, and then try and pull it out, not sure if it will have a good enough bond tho.

Funny that solution didn't go over well when my brother had his hand stuck in a jar....
