Is there a button on the remote for that?
Had to put that idea in my head didn’t you? 
I know in advance that I will be to lazy to move the speakers around every time I want to switch between movies and music.
Sounds like the perfect use of a beanbag chair. If the speakers won’t come to Fredk then bring Fredk to the speakers.

I'm would like to find some DIY sound absorbtion/diffusion solutions that I can apply should I find the need. Does anybody have any good links I can go read? Besides, I need something to keep me distracted for another month or so.

I have found the M80s to be fairly forgiving in their placement for my room. I don't have much room to move them around and I haven't noticed much change when I do play around with their positioning. My LF has a plumbing wall sticking out right next the speaker and it doesn't appear to cause any issues with reflections or soundstage problems.
