All,
I've been on these forums for a while researching what speakers to get for my new HT. Obviously since I'm posting here I'm leaning towards the Axiom's (M80's in all 3 fronts and QS8's for surrounds). My question is, will my Yamaha RX-V3800 have problems powering the M80's? Much of the talk on here is around the Denon 3808, and understandably so, but will I have any problems with this setup?

That is a very nice receiver, you should have no problem driving the M80's and QS8's.

Welcome aboard, if you decide to go with with that setup make sure you post your thoughts, 3 M80's across the front should be awesome.

I'll be sure to. It's going to be a few months out--we're currently in the process of moving, hence the new HT--but I've had this system built in my head for a while now. So far I've been nothing but impressed with what I've seen here.

I don't think you will have any problem at all. IF it has an option for a 4ohm or 6 ohm switch DON'T use it- keep it set at 8 ohms

It does have a 6 ohm switch. I'll be sure to remember that and just leave it at 8.

I was contemplating upgrading to M80 from M22, to be used with my Yamaha RXV3800 and I had the same concern. It's been almost a month and I must say I have no regrets doing that. But 3 M80s for front?

Simply, the switch just limits out put power so as to not overload the amp and you don't want to limit the power available. The only problems might come when trying to play at loud levels. Some have gotten to that point with their receivers, Yamaha or Onkyo, and others have not. If you do find it a problem you will then have an excuse to buy some monoblocks to power the M80s \:\).

BTW, I am envious that you have the room for 3 M80s across the front. I ran my M80s with an M60 as a center briefly and it was the best soundstage I have heard. And Welcome to the club!
