I am building a HT and have a room 11'6" x 24' and the back 6' is a bar/kitchen area with a 46" wall separating it from my HT. I am about to purchase a 7.1 system using the QS8s as side and rear surrounds ( Onkyo NR905 will drive them ).The sides are no problem but the backs are as I can't put them on the rear wall, it bing filled with cabinets, so I plan to mount them from the ceiling which at 7'6" may be a problem. I am wondering if I can mount them flat on the ceiling with the u bracket treating the ceiling just like a side wall or should I just use the ceiling mounts and have them hang down to the 6'6" level.

This question comes up often. Could you mount them flat, yes. However, you would really be defeating the whole purpuse of their design. You might be better off just going 5.1 then. Can't you just ceiling mount them with the Axiom ceiling bracket, omnimount, or DIY method like I did?
