Has anyone ever done listening comparison between the JBL studio L890s and Axiom M80v2s?

Here is a review of the JBL's, complete with a FR curve and judging by the work the reviewer had to do to get a neutral sound, I would take the M80s. That FR curve and the review stating the JBL's sounded bright, leads me to believe the sound is bright because of the dip in the midrange from 200hz up to about 4khz. I would guess this dip is due to the one extra tweeter (of different composition?), compared to a single mid driver, but having never heard the JBL's this is all speculation on my part.

All I know is the M80s are a spectacular sound for the price.

Amen to that Jason. I am still literally amazed on a daily basis with how good the M80s sound in my room. I've never had the stereo on more in the past than I have since I got these... Not that answered the original question, but I couldn't resist...

Thanks for the feedback. I've read lots of articles praising the M80s as well as the L890s. One reviewer went out and purchased the L890s after the review. No doubt the M80s are great speakers but haven't heard them and there's no one in my local area with M80s. My dilemma is, I can get a pair of the L890s for 400.00 USD like brand new but are the M80s 950.00 USD better? Look forward to additional posts.

Can you find someone local that will give you an audition of the M80s? Check in the hearing things forum.

FOr that kind of money I would seriously listen to the JBL's, if you like them, buy them and don't look back.
