Thought I'd post this deal for anyone who is on the fence about a PS3. (40GB PS3 for $399 + $100 gift card to Wal-Mart, netting out to $299) Unfortunately, no shipping to Canada... but for those in the states, it's an incredible deal. I just bought two this weekend in my local Wal-Mart (where the deal applies as well), one for my dad and one for me to replace my insanely loud and hot 60GB PS3. The 60GB is going on eBay next week. Based on the prices the 60GB are going for on eBay, I will actually make money on the exchange. Fortunately, other people are willing to pay a big premium for the 60GB version's enhanced ability to play PS2 games... a non-issue for me. Happy shopping. This is an amazing deal. Jason

Just a side note (most likely not a big deal, but it should be mentioned) that the $100 Wal-Mart gift card is for on-line purchases only. Again, not a big deal, but for those guys trying to "sell" their wife on this idea that she will get $100 for groceries may find themselves in hot water when she finds out it is online only.

Good point on the online card if you buy online. However, if you buy in-store, you get a $100 card for in-store use. My wife snatched it about 1.5 seconds after the cashier put it into my hand. :-) What I call a win-win.

I don't shop at Malwart. Sorry. PS3 seems inevitable. Now's not a good time. Did you know you can set up a PS3 to dual-boot and run Ubuntu Linux? How to turn your PS3 into a Linux PC

Been fighting the urge to do that one. With two PCs running already, one MS and another Linux, I know I have absolutely no practical use for firing up a PS3 in Linux,
yet is seems wrong not to......

I will be getting a PS3 pretty much as soon as I move to the states...hopefully I'll be able to pick up a 40gb for a deal like this...

I price-matched this deal at Best Buy the other day. I got a $100 BB gift card for free, which I'll use on a second controller, blu-ray remote, and perhaps a movie.
