in the vein of some of our long-winded users, but I jumped the gun responding to one of JP's posts -- where was my brain? -- and then thought deleting would remove it from the count. I though I was safe, but just like an automobile, you apparently can't unroll the post-ometer.

So here I am at 10,001 posts, and what do I have to show for it? Let me first say that I hold my previous Axiom honor in higher regard -- and that is being the best-traveled Axiom board member. I traveled a lot in my previous job and was able to take advantage of free airfare to visit some of Axiom's best and brightest: Tom (tomtuttle) in Seattle, Mike (mwc) in Dallas -- Mike met sushi, by the way -- and Jack (Ajax) in Cleveland. I've also had the pleasure of meeting Ray (Ray3) and JP, the pleasure of cohabitating with Ken (kcarlile) for many years, and with my brother Adam (adamp88) for even more years than that.

I am much more sedentary now, having moved across the country, switched jobs, and added a second child (whose picture you all know so well) to the family. Speaking of family, I'd call all of you the best internet family one could hope to have in this modern world. And now, before I start rambling incessantly -- hey, isn't how I got to 10k in the first place? -- I need to being it on home.

Every family has a mother, and all of us can thank the gracious, warm, and capable hands of our forum mother for helping set the tone of this place we all call home. I dedicate my 10,000.999th post to Amie.

(awwwwwww)

Amie, if that gift you're teasing me with is a set of tickets to Axiom HQ and a job offer letter, then I accept and can start after our November elections. (I wouldn't want to leave our country in the wrong hands....)

Guess this means that you won't be leaving after 10000 posts... Otherwise this would be a paradox!

Congrats. Now I want to know what you're getting. ;\)

Truely a post (and poster) worthy of honor. Well said Peter. Congratulations on reaching this milestone, you certainly play a significant part in making this forum a great place to be. Many thanks.

And yes, here's to Amie! \:\)

And I too want to know what's in the box. It could be anything really; figuring that they would use an Axiom box to ship whatever since they would be in abundance. How about a box filled with "10,000 posts" (wiring or grille posts as a gag). That would be kinda funny, but I'm betting on something more notable than that.

OK, so UHF came out when I was in college, I don't feel too much older than you. Whew.

UHF is a pretty silly, but fantastic movie. I loved the Indianna Jones spoof opening, and they had Kramer before he was Kramer.

Boy am I feeling "dim"...

Who cares though. Today is YOUR day! I can't believe how stupid it is that I am so anxious to find out what someone ELSE is getting....

And Weird Al's the only one who's tolerable any more. Not that Fran Drescher was ever tolerable.

I was hoping I'd need a cigarette after that 10,000th post. Pity.

I had to laugh about the ill-fated Yes off-thread conversation that led to Peter's premature postation. I very nearly replied after JP (which might have made Peter move on to something shinier). But I decided NOT to, because I didn't really have anything to say beyond "cool, dude. Me too."

It's fun to hang around with smart people. That's why I spend online time here. Peter, your wit and wisdom meaningfully enhance that experience. I want to thank you for the many times you've made me laugh and made me think, and especially for those times when your comments have made me grateful to share this world with people like you and your family.

Mostly, it seems to me you've made friends here. I think that's the real accomplishment.

Of course, I did it in 7,000 fewer posts...

Once again, I feel rather lacking in eloquence after one of Tom's posts. More rarely do I feel that way after Peter's, but I think the first one in this thread counts.

Basically, I feel the same way that Tom does. This board has a great bunch of people.

Congrats, Peter. All I know is that if Jessica knows about the surprise (and one assumes she would then approve of it), it ain't gonna be a big stinking sub or a big stinking speaker. ;\)

Makes me wonder even more! \:D

Actually, it's packing boxes for his M22s. She had them trade the M22s and VP100 for a single Audiobyte.

Without the amp.

I kid, of course. She wouldn't do that in a million years.

Congratulations Peter! I recall that shortly before Stevie was born you posted that you might not be participating as much in the future because of increasing family responsibilities. Well, fortunately for us it didn't quite work out that way and we've continued to enjoy your wit and knowledge.

I extrapolate that on 12/14/2012 I might join your(and Ken's, etc.)10,000 club, but I suppose that you may have raised the bar to 20,000 by then!

Cangrats again Peter. My guess at your gift sits in a sealed white envelope next to my keyboard at home. Get your camera warmed up!

John. In my books, you are already in the 10K club. You manage to pack a lot into all of your posts, so they should count double.

A tip 'O the hat to Amie and crew for doing something for Peter for 'the big one'.

Congratulations on the milestone, Peter. You're one of the smartest, funniest guys I've come across online, and it's great to see your dedication to the board being rewarded.

Of course, I do agree with Tom that there's a high concentration of intelligence around here. I would miss any of the regular posters if they stopped coming. Being that you're regular to the extreme, don't stop stopping by. You'd leave a big hole, and you know what happens to holes around here.

It's funny how Peter's post reminded me of so many of the fun times / fun people / interesting times / interesting people that we've met here on the Axiom boards. In the early days it all seemed a bit experimental - Ian answered all the technical questions! - but through the very gracious and giving nature of so many of you on the forums here it has become a very warm and friendly place to be. It's really amazing that this has been a largely self-moderated forum since inception (are we up to five deleted threads in 8 years?) and a testament to all of you, especially Peter, on how to keep it fun for everyone.

Peter, you make it real for all of us - and from all of us at Axiom, thank you so much! Looking forward to the next 10,000 with you!

Amen to that. I still have hopes of, one day, making a pilgrimage to Dwight and meeting Ian, Amie, Alan, and the rest of the gang. Although, in my current position, the meeting, understandably, would be, most likely, at a local bistro rather than at the factory.
