I drive by this about every other week and thought it looked unusually pretty this day. So I took a picture. A couple bald eagles interrupted my shot.

That sort of looks like the Bow river valley in southern Alberta. Nice shot

You are lucky my friend. I havn't seen the rockies in 20 years. I really enjoyed my time in them.

Beautiful, Mike. I wish that I lived that close to the mountains. The nearest mountain to me is a 12 hour drive to Big Bend National Park. Glad to see that you are not taking it for granted.

I really don't know how you could tell those poor eagles are bald from that picture, but it looks great!

Awesome. Good to know we aren't the only ones seeing more than our fair share of rain clouds.

What's that white stuff on top of those big mounds of dirt in the background there Mike? \:\)

Beautiful picture Mike, seeing that sort of scenery makes me want to move away from Florida sometimes.

Grits!

Ready for harvesting, too, from the looks of it!

Just beautiful, Mike. Reminds me of the paintings that Bob Ross used to do on his PBS TV show. Of course, that photo is much better than anything he ever did.

Embarrassing fact: I owned a Bob Ross painting kit!

(and actually used it. I think my parents still have my mountain scene somewhere)

In the box with all the other stuff they're sentimentally attached to just enough to keep but not enough to display?

They are the Wrangle Mountains, which are part of the Wrangle / St.Elias National Park. There’s a whole slew of mountains over 10,000’ in this range. This particular mountain is Mt Wrangle, which is 14,000’. The tallest is 16,500’ and just down the road a few miles. What makes these mountains somewhat different than other high peaks around the globe is their base starts out just above sea level. I think this area of the state is 300’. The park has a web sight with some more photos and links. http://www.nps.gov/wrst/

Rick, I'm not real sure what that stuff is..... Gulf Sand???

Have you been rummaging through my parents' garage?

He'd need a whole month. My parents' garage is not a trifling matter.

Very nice picture. If you offer a link to a high res version, I'd make it my background for a while. PEI from space is starting to get old. It's that or one of the many Muppet pictures now readily available here.

I've been playing with some blending software.

What do you think? I'm not sure if I like or not. It's pretty close to what I saw, but almost looks too processed to me.

Well, to one who wasn't there, it's gorgeous.
