Terzaghi is pronounced:

Ter-za-gee

ter- (like "turd" without the d)

za- (like "awe" with a z in the front)

ghi- (like "geek" without the k)

Now please refrain from calling me turd-awe-geek.

Karl von Terzaghi (whom I stole the name from) is known as the father of soil mechanics, info here:
