Hi Everyone, I am in the process of installing my axiom speakers and I am having issues with the QS4s. I do not want to install them directly on my rear walls as I have no way to hide the speaker wires, beyond using plastic raceways and thats ugly... The other option is to put them on stands but the axiom QS stands are way too expensive. 1. Has anyone tried installing QS4 with any other brand speaker stand? 2. Any experience specifically with sanus brand stands( Sanus HF1 speaker stand ) 3. Would it be damaging to the speaker if I drilled 2 small holes in the back just above the binding posts?? Thanks

While I'm sure you can put a couple screws into the back of the speaker, It is a rather harsh thing to do to them, I would think you could somehow get those stands to work with the built in screw. Even if you turned the speakers upside down, Which really wouldnt matter anyway.

From the installation manual it shows there to be a slotted "L" adapter that looks to be tall enough to be able to use the single bolt already on the back of the QS4, if the "L" bracket is not tall enough you could proabably find some flat metal/aluminum and drill a hole at either end to extend the length of the vertical section high enough to be able to mount the QS4, no extra holes required in the speaker.

The QS's are pretty heavy!

I also think the QS's might be too heavy for those stands.

I used some very small, round raceways that were barely larger than the speaker wire. Painted them the color of the wall and they look great! Here is something similar to what I bought: http://www.amazon.com/Wiremold-White-Cordmate-Channel-C10/dp/B000BVXW08/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_img_bpictures here: http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=189940&fpart=1I don't think they have been painted in the first pictures of the thread.. maybe later on in the thread though. Also I hung the QS speakers by myself and I stuck the raceways to the wall before I decided the QS8's needed to be raised a few inches... as a result there is a bit of speaker wire that shows between the top of the raceway and the speaker. If I did it again I would make sure that the raceway is flush against the speaker... hmmm maybe I will buy an extra one and cut it to fit

Thank you all for your input. Putting new holes in the speakers is my last option and undesireable option.
The sanus HF1 stands can take upto 10 pounds so I am ok on the weight. Just have to figure out how to attach the T bracket from axiom to the stand bracket.
Seems from the manuals I will be only able to get one screw(center one) to attach both and am not sure if thats enough for a 9 pound speaker.

The 'T' bracket has holes in it along the vertical part of the 'T' for wall mounting, you should be able to add a second bolt through those holes to the sanus bracket. The center bolt on the QS is enough to hold it to the 'T' bracket.
