I used monoprice 16awg wiring, HDMI cables and banana plugs which all work great. The HDMI with the braided covering is the better of the cables offered by monoprice $6.98 3ft. The only issue I have with the HDMI's is that they come loose from their connection when I pull equipment out to dust. Is their something that can secure the cables to their connections? That would be awesome. Also, I am curious of your opionions on the corner firing placement of the sub. I don't have a meter yet so I'm only going by ear at this point. Thanks.

What is it like flipped 180deg. and firing into the couch? I have mine setup like that.

Lorenzo - yes, those are the same HDMI cables I have from Monoprice and they have a braided outer covering.

Demetrios - It's interesting they're coming out on you. I can only guess that maybe they're installed at an angle that leaves some pressure on the wires (pressure away from the port on the receiver/DVD player/etc.) that causes them to pop out easily when moving the equipment around. I've wrapped my cables around my rack so that the pressure point is on the rack as opposed to directly on the port where the cable plugs in.

There also is at least one company that makes a patented HDMI locking tab cable, but the last time I looked, they were incredibly expensive.

What I do is to put an eye bolt in the back of my rack. from there I use wire ties to secure the cables. This way, there is no strain on the cables.

There are very few things as exciting as having a bunch of boxes of speakers ready to unpack and set-up! Looks great!

To have the best response in a room across all seating locations, you need multiple subs on opposite centered walls. The subs output is omnidirectional, so firing the woofer towards the corner does nothing. One sub can do a good job if placed correctly, so find the location that gives you the best overall performance in the primary seat. This could be anywhere in the room.

Placing the sub near one of your corners will excite all the nodes and give you better boomy sound, however, this is not always the best placement for the best FR.

Looking great and looks like you had a lot of fun there.

How did you, and others find those thick braided HDMI cables from Monoprice? I loved their speaker wire but this particular product I found to be so thick as to be very difficult to work with. Also, I had trouble when they were paired to a HDMI switch. Alone, they worked well. The switch with other cables worked well, but the switch and these cables together equaled sporadic missing audio and sometimes video.

I'm still using the switch but the cables are gathering dust. Just curious to know if I received a bad batch or if others have had similar experience. I should have returned them but the shipping was going to almost match the price I paid.

Sorry for the sidetrack, the room looks awesome. I like the cat picture too. Our cat had the same look for a while when I was putting our room together. Then he decided all loose speaker wire was his arch- enemy and we had several horrendous battles. Luckily, once it was sufficiently shackled between the wall and speakers on both ends, it decided it was sufficiently imprisoned and left it alone.

Murph - they've worked ok with me, but they are rather inflexible and took a little working with to get them in a position where they didn't want to pull themselves out of the equipment due to strain on the cable. (see my earlier posts above explaining in case you missed it). Functionally, though, they are flawless, no problems other than getting them bent in the right direction.

Hey guys, I finally finished the shelf/enclosure for my TV/VP150. I used 3/4" Oak sanded plywood. I am definatelly not a wood worker but I'm happy with the results! I glued and screwed the shelf and stained the wood with 3 coats of Ebony. I finished it with 2 coats of clear semi-gloss poly. Here are a few pics.
