I'm sure it's obvious to all of you by now anyway, but just thought I'd say:
WELCOME BACK!
We've all been wondering. And he just snuck back in the way he snuck on out.

You just missed his welcome back party!
I told spiffnme to save you the last margarita, but he said you weren't coming and drank it himself. Too fast, I might add, as evidenced by the"Oh my god! Brainfreeze!" look he gave me.

Rich, we're all glad to have sushi back; note that he's snuck back with about 300 posts in the last 24 hours.

Just a slight exaggeration for dramatic emphasis, Masa. Incidentally, since tonight is Holloween, I hope that you're playing the Dream of a Witches' Sabbath from the Symphonie Fastastique, Mussourgsky's Night on Bald Mountain, Rimsky-Korsakov's Witches'Sabbath from his Christmas Eve Suite, etc. Anything else to help bring in the witches?

GMTA!!! I already played the latter two, and listened to the Berlioz on the Classical 101 earlier this afternoon.

Not quite analagous. Sam and Noah are my two sons!
And I had seen Sushi's posts but I hadn't seen much hoopla. That is until I went into another section and found the party... with no tequila left!
All is well with the world again. Back to my usual lurker mode.

I guess it's time to bring the "explain your nickname" thread back.
My bf's nickname is "Spiff". So..."Spiffnme" = Spiff & Me

DJ,
I've noticed that you've been reading his name wrong, too.
As mentioned above, it's "Spiff" not "spliff"

Maybe you need to set your monitor to 640x480?

Never! I have a 17" LCD with a native res of 1280x1024. I hate how it scales lower resolutions. I also dislike that 1280x1024 isn't a 4:3 resolution!! Oh well.

Very true! I had to set the geometry of my good'n'old CRT monitor at the office with a lot of blank on either side because of this. I need an accurate WYSIWYG presentation on screen.

Do you use the sRGB ColorSync calibration, or do you use a custom display adjustment?

As you know I am a Mac person, and my monitor in the office is the Apple 17" CRT (the one with the clear case). I use the automatic color calibration feature of the monitor, which also creates a ColorSync profile. The geometry is of course adjusted manually with an actual ruler.

Just to nitpick...have you considered using 1280x960? That would solve the black bars problem...

I would but my monitor is LCD so it would be scaled evil-ly. Plus, it's shaped more squarish for the 1280x1024 resolution (as are most 17" lcd's that are 1280x1024). On my old crt, when I would game I would use 2048x1536 but on desktop (for no need to use Anti-Aliasing - only Anisotropic Filtering which my 9800 Pro has an easy time doing), I would use 1280x960. Looked great in my opinion for text.
