I have the M60's and the EP350 sub on the floor. I have a 75 year old house with suspended wooden floors. I know there are various "isolation" options from homemade "sandboxes" to MoPads to outrageously priced spikes and feet. I also know what is used can potentially "color" the sound of the speakers. Hence my dilema. Anybody have similar architectural issues and/or ideas on isolating my wonderful speakers????

Have you called Axiom to see if you can order an accessory pack? Their speakers normally come with both pucks and spikes. Although these work fine I actually prefer my speakers a little higher off the ground as I think it improves the imaging so I have mine on cloth covered cinderblocks but I don't know if that would help you decouple them from your floor.

Dean I've been so tempted to elevate our 80s like that, much of a difference with music? I remember a forum member from a couple or so years ago that had his hanging from the ceiling and angled down towards the listening position, said SRV's guitar tone was incredible with that setup.

Rick, 2.0 and 2.1 music is where it made the biggest difference for me. I noticed it by accident when comparing my M80s and M22s which were sitting on top of the M80s. The M22s sounded richer and more enveloping than the M80s which baffled me so I put the M80s on milk crates and viola they also sounded more enveloping. Can’t hurt to put them up on something and give it a try.

I only had my center M80 up against the ceiling angled down at the listening position but I also thought that it made the whole front soundstage bigger. Never thought to put the L/R up higher (sounds like more experimenting when I get the house).

Thanks Dean, looks interesting. Also I remember from the old 'Wall of Fame' gallery somebody had their 80s placed on top of a pair of EP500s ... or it may have been a pair of EP350s.

I'll give it a go and report back to you. \:\)

Great idea, you should put them all on wheel and pulley systems so that you can adjust each speaker's height individually from your favorite listening position.

My "unlimited budget" fantasy involves an M80 sitting on top of an EP400 for each channel, with an individual crossover on the 400s handling the bass below 40Hz and each channel run as "large".

Of course, there would still be 4 800s for LFE only.....

Wow, that was a fast hijack! ;\)

So the consensus for archealeaus is to put his M60s on a couple of subwoofers to isolate them from the floor which brings us right back to the original question:
