I bet it is so they an charge more $$$.
The 4xxx series are more expensive than the 3xxx series, so the new "3810" listed as 4xxx can be sold for $2100 or so.

Hmmmmm...is anyone concerned about the new avr models made in China? I know problems from the current 1909 and below have been somewhat unreliable. I am interested in the 2310 which is made in China....Lee

Don't expect any improvements in the manuals. Just compare the press release with the Denon website and see the confusion already brewing. From just a cursory review, there are contradictions in the capabilities of the 4310 re (1) video processing, (2) HD Radio, and (3) Audyssey format - at a minimum. Not that anyone cares about those...right? But the pricing does confirm that that for whatever reason, the 3808 is now the 4310, etc - unless the price of the 4000 series dropped by 1/3!
